Southbound I-395 HOV Bridge
I-395 Southbound HOV Full Bridge and Ramp Closure
From 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, both southbound HOV lanes on the I-395 HOV Bridge over the Potomac River will be closed. The ramps from 14th Street and the I-395 southbound mainline to the HOV Bridge will also be closed.
The closure is necessary to shift traffic into Phase 1 of construction, including installing temporary pavement markings and adjusting traffic barriers.
If work cannot be completed on August 8 due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the closure will be rescheduled for Monday, August 10, from 9:30 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Traffic controls and signage will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone. Drivers should expect delays, use caution, and follow posted signs.
The closure is part of the I-395 HOV Bridge Rehabilitation Project, which includes replacing the bridge deck, rehabilitating the bridge structure, improving approach roadways in Washington, DC, and Arlington County, Virginia, upgrading streetlights, and completing other related repairs.
