[AlertDC] The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement temporary lane closures along Connecticut Avenue NW, from the William Howard Taft Bridge (South) to Kalorama Road, to support the installation of temporary signalized crosswalks and associated pedestrian safety improvements.
The closures are scheduled to occur Monday, December 29, 2025, through Friday, January 23, 2025, during the hours of 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Work will require single inside lane and single outside lane closures in both the northbound and southbound directions to facilitate the removal of existing pavement striping. Additional improvements include the installation of enhanced crosswalks at Belmont Road and the Taft Bridge, as well as the construction of ADA-compliant curb ramps.
Motorists are advised to plan accordingly, anticipate delays, and consider alternate routes during the construction period. DDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are made to enhance the safety and longevity of this critical transportation corridor.
Traffic control measures, including signage, will be in place to guide travelers safely through the work zones. All roadway users are encouraged to remain alert and observe posted signage while traveling through the area. |
