The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for the District of Columbia, which will go into effect Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 8PM until Monday, August 12, 2024 at 1:25AM.
What: Flooding is possible.
Where: Potomac River at Little Falls.
When: Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 8PM until Monday, August 12, 2024 at 1:25AM.
Impacts: At 11.0 feet, Water covers the towpath between Swains Lock and Pennyfield Lock, mileposts 17 to 19 on the C&O Canal.
Additional Details: At 10:45AM EDT Friday the stage was 4.0 feet, or 6.0 feet below flood stage. Flood stage may be reached tomorrow evening. Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
