3/27/2020 3:12 PM DDOT Transit Advisory: DDOT to Suspend Late Night Weekend Service
The District of Columbia Government has modified its operations in order to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has temporarily suspended late night service on the DC Circulator through the end of Mayor Bowser’s declared public health emergency. Effective Friday, March 27, 2020, the DC Circulator will suspend late night weekend service on the Georgetown-Union Station, Rosslyn-Dupont Circle and Woodley Park-McPherson Square routes. The modified schedule for these routes is as follows: Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. (midnight). DC Circulator passengers are asked to enter and exit the bus using the rear door at all times. The only exceptions are for passengers who need to use the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) boarding ramp or require the bus to “kneel” to facilitate their boarding. DC Circulator has suspended fares on all routes. Service has been suspended on the National Mall routes. 3/27/2020 9:47 AM Coastal Flood Advisory (NWS)
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the District of Columbia in effect now until 1 PM Friday, March 27, 2020. What: Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low lying areas due to tidal flooding. Where: Shoreline in the District of Columbia. When: Until 1 PM Friday, especially around the time of high tide. Impacts: Shoreline inundation is expected along portions of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road, and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. Minor shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere. Additional Details: Tides one and a half to two feet above normal. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 10:47 AM. Precautionary/Preparedness Action: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

In coordination with the National Park Service, the Metropolitan Police Department will implement street closures beginning at 7:00AM through approximately 8:00PM until further notice at the following locations: The Memorial Bridge Lincoln Memorial Circle Potomac River Freeway (all exits to Ohio Drive and Independence Avenue) Rock Creek Parkway/Potomac Parkway Drive between Virginia Avenue and Independence Avenue, SW (to include Ohio Drive, SW) Independence Avenue between Ohio Drive and 14th Street, SW 23rd Street between Constitution Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Circle Henry Bacon Drive between Constitution Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Circle 17th Street between Constitution Avenue, NW and Independence Avenue, SW 15th Street between Constitution Avenue, NW and Independence Avenue, SW Maine Avenue between Independence and 12th Street, SW All vehicular exits to East Potomac Park and West Potomac Park All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions. The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed. Individuals and groups will encounter delays in the vicinity of this closure. To help flatten the curve, we strongly discourage any Tidal Basin visits because social distancing has not been possible due to visitor volume.
