Special Marine Warning (Washington, DC)
The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Special Marine Warning for Tidal Potomac from Key Bridge to Indian Head MD until 9:30 PM EDT. HAZARD: Sudden onset of wind gusts of 35 to 45 knots. SOURCE: Measured wind gusts over land. IMPACT: Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel. Locations impacted include: Fort Washington, Tidal Basin, Reagan National Airport, Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Key Bridge, National Harbor, Fort Hunt, and Alexandria. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected. |

Wind Advisory (District of Columbia)
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the District of Columbia, which is in effect until Thursday, November 21st at 1AM. WHAT: West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. WHERE: Portions of DC, central, north central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and northern and northwest Virginia. WHEN: Until 1 AM EST Thursday. IMPACTS: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Expect winds to suddenly increase this evening between 8PM to 11PM. Special Weather Statement (District of Columbia)
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Special Weather Statement for the District of Columbia for a rapid onset of strong west to northwest winds expected to develop between 8PM and 11PM this evening behind a strong cold front. Wind gusts around 35 to 45 mph are most likely with a few gusts around 50 mph possible. The strong winds will be capable of blowing around unsecured objects and isolated instances of wind damage are possible as well. Winds will gradually diminish overnight. |
