Details: This is a hypothermia alert issued in accordance with the District of Columbia's Cold Plan for 7 PM, Sunday, January 17, 2021. The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that temperatures will be 34 degrees but will feel like 29 degrees due to wind chill and/or rain. Stay inside, bundle up if you go out, report shelter transport for people experiencing homelessness at 202-399-7093, and report animal emergencies to the Humane Rescue Alliance at 202-723-5730. The District opens Hypothermia Shelters in recreation centers and other public buildings to ensure there are warm, safe places to be for anyone experiencing homelessness.
